This is a lot of “me” content but where else can you hear all about what I’m up to without reading my Google calendar?

My wellness coach is a warrior queen and she's helping me to be one too

Two months ago, my new doctor told me I was “obese.”

My initial reaction was to side-eye him and say, “That doesn’t match my narrative for myself.” I knew I was heavy but, girl, I wasn’t feeling like Dan Connor/Roseanne realness or anything. Plus, my doctor was a total dick so it was hard for me to let it sink in that, yes, Brendan, you’re a total fatty and it’s affecting your health.

So, even though it was harsh, and delivered with no manner of sugar, the medicine went down and I made a commitment to myself to do something. Which translates to, “I posted on Facebook that I needed help.”

A friend recommended a wellness coach that he had started using, Lori Cox, from Galvanized Whole Life Coaching (Facebook ). She talked to me gingerly at first, feeling me out, figuring out where I was at, and then helped me come up with a plan to simply tweak what I was eating and to reintroduce me to my body.

The first step was literally learning to breathe and take time to do it. Isn’t it crazy that you can become so disconnected with yourself that you forget how to breathe? If you do it right, it’s like crack. I’m addicted to breathing now. Bring on that oxygen, girl!

Then I was put through a 30-day food boot camp where we limited what I was eating to whole foods, high fiber veggies, and no salts or sugars. Drinking lots of water. That was hard because my job brings me to a lot of restaurant openings but since I was paying this lady to help me live better, I was committed to doing the steps. And it worked!

I’m almost three months in and I’ve lost 41 pounds. I think most of that was just swelling and inflammation, to be honest. I feel so much better and my skin looks good too. My blood pressure is way out of the danger zone, and we’ve been adding exercises to my routine - lots of squats, biking, and kettlebells.

I love that this is happening at the end of 2019 and I’m pumped about heading into the new year with some new wellness tools under my newly-sinched belt. If you’re looking to make a commitment to being a better you. Think about giving Lori a call.

And check out this photoshoot she did with Lecia McDermott, an amazing photographer who founded something called The Brave Babes Movement which helps ladies reveal their inner, well, “brave babe.” Just like what Lori’s doing for me and all of her clients.

Holler if you wanna be a brave babe too.
