This is a lot of “me” content but where else can you hear all about what I’m up to without reading my Google calendar?

My own little Halloween marathon comes to a close

My own little Halloween marathon comes to a close

Halloween is not only my favorite holiday but it also happens to be my birthday.

As such, I take it upon myself to embark on an annual marathon of events and shin digs the week around the big to-do and take on much more than should be humanly possible and I spend all of my money on fabulous outfits that I will trip over for years to follow.

This year was no different as I managed to book something for every day that week, while also trying to maintain my Whole-30 diet so my new wellness coach wouldn’t disown me.

The week kicked the week off with a dog costume contest at RockPit Brewing in SODO where I got to judge a building full of dressed-up puppies and their owners. This is Mr. Fluffybutt, an Instagram influencer and fellow judge. We are best friends now.

Next, I hosted our last Bungalower Bingo at Wally’s Mills Avenue Liquors in the Mills 50 District with my heterosexual life partner, Jon Busdeker. Which meant I had an excuse to bust out my caveman glam suit.

SO MUCH FUN WEARING THAT WIG ALL NIGHT. I THINK I KEPT MY CAR KEYS IN IT.

Thornton Park had their street party mid-week, which was a blast. I was supposed to be a judge of the costume contest but they had some sort of snaffoo with the host who just barreled through the programming and forgot to ask us up. But it’s cool, cuz I looked cute as hell as a Space Cowgirl. Something I’d been drawing up in my head for a few months.

I hosted a street party in Winter Park’s Hannibal Square with hundreds of college students and gave the costume contest win to a man in a hot nurse costume who took his shirt off. Biased, yes. Worth it, yes. A violent Tinkerbell got in my face about the decision but my only explanation was to point at his six pack. He had worked hard on that costume. So hard.

No photos though. It was a gong show.

Next up was a stint on the stage at Wall St. Plaza in downtown Orlando where there were literally thousands of drunk people having an amazing time. The costumes were fantastic but it was apparently the Year of the Clown as the winners were an It get-up and The Joker from the movie.

I had a costume mishap onstage and my very clever Pickle Rick costume deflated, leaving me in a onesie for the remainder of the night.

And last up was a karaoke costume contest at The Copper Rocket in Maitland, hosted by my new friend Grizzlee Martin. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the event as I hadn’t been to the venue before but man, I think it was my favorite one. Everyone had an opportunity to sing as part of their costume entry and almost every single one of them could really sing. I was floored. Even the ones that couldn’t hold a tune had an appropriate amount of swag that everyone was having fun with them. I got to sing backup too :)

I got to wear my warrior outfit too so it was a night well-spent!

I spent the 1st on a beach by myself picking up trash and it was all the perfect way to bring in my 37th year.
