Jumping Ship: Why I’m Leaving Bungalower (and Starting Something New)
After years of building, digging, and writing under the Bungalower Media banner, I’m stepping off that familiar porch and launching into something new. This wasn’t (necessarily) a farewell born of bitterness, but mores a choice rooted in growth, in curiosity, and in the stubborn belief that there’s room for something fresh in Orlando’s storytelling ecosystem. And I was fired when I told the owner I had an offer for a backer. Yay, kick in the pants!
Starting my own thing feels like a promise — to myself and to the readers. A promise of more creative control, more authenticity, and more room to experiment (even if that means occasional stumbles). I want to explore corners of Orlando and beyond that haven’t had a spotlight. I want to build something that feels less like a pigeonhole and more like a growing, shifting organism.
To everyone who read, shared, engaged, argued, celebrated, or just tolerated me in Bungalower, thanks so much! You taught me what matters. You raised the flag that this place (and its stories) deserve more care, more curiosity, and more voices. I hope you’ll walk this new path with me. Because we’re just getting started.
