A "Call for Color" with SoDo Main Street District
I recently had the chance to help the SoDo Main Street District launch their “Call for Color” campaign, a community art initiative that invited local artists to submit designs for new utility cabinet wraps and murals.
Thanks to support from a federal grant, this project offered a paid opportunity for artists to bring fresh color and creativity to the neighborhood. Submissions were due July 7, and the response showed just how much talent and enthusiasm lives in Orlando’s creative community.
It was a great example of how public art can be supported through partnerships and how artists can play a direct role in shaping the character of a district. And I got to help with the conception of the project, the design of the campaign, and sorting through the applications!
