This is a lot of “me” content but where else can you hear all about what I’m up to without reading my Google calendar?

Saving signs is my jam

Saving signs is my jam

I’m so happy to say that I just delivered this hand-painted sign to the Orange County Regional History Center for their collection.

It was created by Orlando-based folk artist, Morgan Steele for Dandelion Café which just closed up shop. Rather than see it go to the dump, the owners handed it to me to see if I could find it a home. Which I was more than happy to do! I was also pretty willing to keep it myself if my contacts at the local museums weren’t interested.

Steele was a prolific painter and he used any canvas he could get his brush on; doors, cars, wood pallets, sheetrock, anything that could hold paint. His work adorned countless Orlando Weekly covers and businesses and is still hanging on the walls of thousands of Orlando residents. He died in a car crash four years ago.

It’s so important to keep these little pieces of local history preserved.
